Welcome to the March 2013 student and class blogging challenge.
There are three ways you can enter:
- as a mentor – a group of students allocated to you and you visit leaving comments over the ten week period. Please read the post linked here before leaving a comment on that post to register as a mentor.
- as a class – Register at this link then start visiting other classes on the class participants page
- as a student – Register at this link then start visiting other students on the student participants page
I hope you enjoy this the 10th Student blogging challenge.

I am trying to decide whether I should register my “teacher” blog as a class blog or require each of my students to join the student blogging challenge. I have had my blog for about three years, and I started allowing students to create their own blogs two years ago. For proper participation, is it better to NOT require students to join the Student challenge. I’m in a quandary.
G’day Pat,
Totally up to you. Students enjoy registering their own blog, but often it relies on the teacher reminding them to visit the challenge blog each week. Some teachers do that by posting on their class blog if students are used to going there for information, otherwise a link to the student challenge blog and a verbal reminder is enough.
I am a russian teacher Elena Degrtyareva. I want to be a mentor for any class and help them with a pleasure.

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am studying my bachelor of education in Melbourne. I found out about the student blogging challenge through my mentor on placement. I look foward to follow children’s blogs and watching their progress.
G’day Sarah,
Do you actually want to be a mentor for a group of students? If yes, then click on this link and fill in the information. I will then allocate you some students to look after.
Yes, I would like to be a mentor for a few students. Thank-you
Hi Sarah,
I have allocated you some 12 year olds to look after. Try and leave 3 comments on each blog between now and the end of the year. Some may still have privacy settings that don’t allow comments unless you log in . Keep persevering as I try to get them to change that.
hello my name is hashem am from sudan i hope to help me to improve me english here
How do I register individual students for the March blogging challenge?
Thanks for your help,
Elisa
Hi Elisa,
In the header area is Register for March 2013. If you hover over that you will find a link for student registrations. It is a form for each student or you to fill in. Then each student can check the other link in the header that says Participants – March 2013.
Hi,
I’d like to sign up four 4th grade groups for the class blogging challenge but I can’t find the link.
Thanks
JW
Hi Jonathan,
Registration for classes will be up on the blog next week. It will be under the header Register for March 2013.
OK. Thanks, Miss W!
We will be out of school until Feb. 18th. Will there still be enough time to sign up? Is there a limit on the number of students that can sign up to participate? Can I sign up students later in March?
Thanks for your help.
Elisa
Hi Elisa,
You can sign up whenever you like. The challenges are left on the blog permanently so can be used at any time of year. But the earlier the students sign up, the more chance they will get a mentor who will visit their blog at least three times over the ten week period of the challenge.
Great. That sounds good. I can’t wait to get started with my students.
Regards,
Elisa
I can’t see the students with blogs at weebly.com. It asks for a password.
Hi Bill,
I have sent an email to the teacher involved asking for that to be changed. I will give it a week then try again.
