Challenge 6 – Sept 2010
There are only a couple of challenges this week, as we still have classes catching up. I am also putting together our school yearbook and it is now time to be writing reports.
1. The Game: Those who have taken part in a challenge before know the game of ‘Count Out Three’. Here are the instructions:
- click on a blog on the student list – count one
- now click on a blog from their blogroll – count two
- finally click on a blog from that blogroll – count three
Leave a comment on an interesting post at this blog.
Do this activity at least three times and finally, write your own post saying which blogs you visited and what posts you left a comment on. Why did you choose that post? Remember to include a link back to the post you left a comment on so that student gets a pingback or trackback.
2. Favourites: Lots of students enjoy writing about their favourite topics of music, food, books, games etc.
Create a poll by going to PollDaddy and embedding your poll in either your sidebar or a post. How are students around the world similar in their likes?
Please answer my poll about what you enjoy about blogging.
3. A day at school: Amelia wrote an interesting post asking about a typical day at your school. Oops, link doesn’t work – maybe Amelia deleted this post. Hooray – Amelia has re-posted so visit there now.
- What time does school begin?
- How do you get to school?
- How long is each subject?
- What choices of subject do you have?
- Are there after school activities?
Write a post about a typical day at your school. You might be able to take photos about your subjects for that day you are describing.

[…] Some blogs I visited for the challenge 6 count out three activity include Jessica’s Blog, Holly’s Blog, and Carly’s Blog. The thing that stood out for me about these blogs was the length of their posts. It was clearly shown that the put alot of time and efferot into persenting their writing (and themselves) in a good way. The post I commented on was “Pictures in blogs by Matt” on Matt’s Blog. I commented on this post because he had several reasons to add images to your posts that I had never ever considered. I recomend you check this post out for yourself. Challenge 6 […]

Hi Miss W –
I just wanted to quickly check something – if my students want you to visit our blog, they need to put a link to this challenge site in their post?
I know I read it somewhere and can’t find it exactly. (It’s been a looong week!)
Thanks
Katy
G’day Katy,
That’s correct. This will create a pingback or trackback and when I open the student challenge blog, it will notify me that you have written a post. Check out the comments on my sidebar and see which ones are pingbacks, go to their blog and see what they have done to create the pingback.

I tried to make a poll but when I put it on my blog there was the question and the first answer then a huge space then the rest of the poll. Do you have a solution to this problem? If you do please comment on my blog at http://jacqueline110gs.edublogs.org. Thanks!
please tell viewers I’ve fixed my post!
miss w!!! i want you to know that that post is still on my blog! im rewriting it because my friend accidentally deleted it. I want people to know it’s still available to read.
This week my students are writing riddles about Egypt and Kush, so you might want to test your reasoning and powers of deduction. I think most of them will start posting by 11/4 or 11/5, so be sure and check after then. We’d love to hear your ideas.
